HOW OUR TAX GRIEVANCE PROCESS WORKS

Our Process

According to New York State, you are owed a formal review of your assessment. This is through the grievance process or judicial review.

Before this happens you need to go over the assessment with the assessor. And you should check this information annually because your assessment divided by the LOA (level of assessment) should equal the assessor's estimate of your property market value.

According to New York State you should estimate the market value of your own property. With no real estate experience, generally speaking, this means that you may have to hire an appraiser. â€‹If just those three steps sound complicated, it is because they are meant to be.

Our process has just a few steps.
The goal is to lower your property's assessed value. We do this by qualifying your property with appraisal methods and make sure that we can lower your assessment. We fill out and submit the appropriate documentation. Then you receive a lower tax bill. It is against the law for your assessment to go up based on a tax grievance. Spot assessments are not allowed. The process takes as long as generating a tax bill. Check with your local municipality to find out these important dates. There are no upfront fees.
